Four Picture Friday: Haircut

Mama gave Chimpy her first haircut the other day, but we didn't have the camera ready. So we recreated it for 4PF.

The first challenge was picking the right tool. We decided to go with Grandpa Chimpy's old horse clippers. If they were good enough for Teabiscuit, they're good enough for us.

The second challenge was getting the bowl on Chimpy's head.

But the hardest part was steeling our nerves. Mama almost couldn't go through with it.

Steady... steady...

"You have done this before, haven't you?" Chimpy reconsiders the bowl.

Such lovely bangs. Très belle!

Four Picture Friday: Bébé Baguette

The other day I took Chimpy to the marketplace. She is used to seeing me bite the end off of the baguette while shopping so, being in my arm and close enough to grab the baguette for once, decided to try it herself. She went crazy for it! When I tried to take the baguette away from her, she cried. Chimpy carried the baguette all the way home and gnawed on the end of it for the better part of an hour.

Monday Matinee: Chimpy Boop

One of our early-morning routines is watching a Betty Boop cartoon. Chimpy's really gotten to like them and when I ask, "Chimpy, do you want to watch Betty Boop?" she will smile and put her arms up (if she's in the mood). Here is Chimpy clapping when we get to her favorite part of Betty Boop, M.D. (a cat can't see over a crowd and throws his head in the air to get a better view):

And in case you think the applause timing is random:

Here's the full cartoon:

Four Picture Friday: Other Accomplishments

Besides hunting down and eating Cheerios, Chimpy has a whole other set of skills. She's mastered drinking from a sippy cup:

(Uh, Chimpy, it's upside down...)

Sitting up

(It's no big deal.)

Yoga

Carpentry

Podiatry/Small Animal Medicine

and Public Speaking.

Wednesday Moment of Zen

Time for a new feature on Lil' Chimpy. In the interest of promoting sanity in the middle of your work week, Chimpy offers a calming picture every Wednesday. Here's a quiet afternoon in the park.

Four Picture Friday: St. Patrick's Day

Here's what we did last Saturday, begorrah:

Chimpy wore her new hair clip and shirt (green in it for St. Patrick's day).

Took some time to read the paper with Mama.

Then went out for sushi, realizing later that we should have had corned beef from the deli next door.

WHOOP! We interrupt 4PF to bring video of Chimpy's latest adventure, Cheerio hunting.

Four Picture Friday: Vegas Vacation

A big 4PF today as we have a bunch of pictures from our trip to see Chimpy's nana.

Here's Chimpy practicing her Elvis impersonation. Thank you very much.

You can keep your Chimpys in the overhead storage bin (Chimpys may shift during flight).

Or hold them on your lap.

Zzz.

Chimpy flew well and landed happy. Here she is at LAS with her Nana.

As much as I dislike Las Vegas, I have to admit the desert is beautiful. This is on the Colorado River about 40 minutes southeast of the city. Across the river is Arizona.

We didn't bring a sunhat so we improvised something out of a handkerchief (Gumby style).

Back at the Wigwam, we have some playtime with Nana. (There's a Chimpy under that Nana.)

A good nap after all that wrestling.

The next day on the way to the airport we stop to wrestle with Uncle Jeff.

At the airport, Chimpy realizes that the subject of the Michael Kalish portrait is standing next to her and is no other than her cousin.

Adios, Vegas!
